ISLAMABAD: UAE has assured its unwavering support to the government of Pakistan for rehabilitation of flood effectees, economic revival and to meet energy shortage in the country. Mr. Ali Saif Sultan Al-Awani, Ambassador of UAE gave this assurance in a meeting with Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Speaker, National Assembly in Parliament House, this morning.
While talking to the Ambassador, the Dr. Fehmida Mirza said that Pakistan values high its time-immemorial fraternal relations with United Arab Emirates. She appreciated the support extended by UAE during floods and other crises in the past. She specially paid her gratitude to Abdul Aziz-Al-Ghurair Speaker, National Assembly on UAE for his initiative of moving the resolution by him which was unanimously adopted in 123rd Assembly of IPU, stressing for mobilization of International support for rehabilitation of flood effectees in Pakistan.
Mr. Ali Saif Sultan Al-Awani said that his country attacks great importance to its relation with Pakistan which are tied in bonds of history, religion, culture and wants a prosperous and stable Pakistan. He denounced the terrorist activities in Pakistan and said that elements involved in such acts were not Muslims and against the humanity. He extended his country’s all-out support to Pakistan for elimination of terrorism and extremism from the country. He informed the Speaker that UAE would extend its support to Pakistan in devise fields.
Dr. Fehmida Mirza appreciated the support of UAE, however stressed that International Community should deliver its pledges to give impetus to the rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the flood torn areas. She agreed that people involved in terror activities were inhuman. She said that government had firm resolve to root-out terrorism and extremism from the country.
