Thousands flock to border at Torkham, Chaman

PESHAWAR -UNS– Thousands of people flocked to border crossings at Torkham and Chaman as Pakistani authorities temporarily reopened the border with Afghanistan after 18 days.

Around twelve thousand Afghan nationals crossed over to Afghanistan while 500 Pakistan returned to their homes from the neighbouring country amid tight security on the first day after reopening of Torkham border gate by Pakistan.

Another 6,728 Afghan nationals and 1,631 Pakistanis crossed back into their respective countries through Bab-e-Dosti (Friendship Gate) at Chaman.
