ISLAMABAD -UNS– Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is reportedly to appear before Joint Investigation Team (JIT) over Panama Leaks on June 15, sources reported on Sunday.
Sources privy to the government have reported that the premier is scheduled to answer questions of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Additional Director General-led JIT on Thursday.
Two sons of the premier, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz have earlier been summoned by the probe committee at least seven times combined.
The development has come in a day after the JIT chief filed a petition in the apex court over threats being faced by the members in the highly followed, first ever of its kind probe of a sitting Prime Minister of Pakistan.
JIT head, FIA s Wajid Zia, was previously told by the apex court to submit a separate petition for their concerns.
He informed the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) about security concerns, criticism on members, external pressures and other difficulties faced by the JIT. Sources reported that the petition was prepared by the FIA Additional Director General himself besides Irfan Naeem Mangi of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan.
