WANA -UNS : A delegation of the United States Senate (Arms Committee) visited the South Waziristan Agency along with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, on Monday.
According to the ISPR, the delegation headed by Senator John McCain were briefed about the security at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border during their visit to South Waziristan.
Recent measures such as fencing and enhanced surveillance as well as socio-economic development efforts were also discussed with the US delegation.
“The delegation was flown over the Agency to have view of the border area, newly constructed forts / posts and development works including schools, colleges, hospitals, sports stadium, water supply schemes and roads communication infrastructure,” said the press release issued by the ISPR.
For reestablishing peace in the area, the delegation praised the services and efforts of Pakistan Army as well as the local tribes.
The delegation was scheduled to visit LOC which couldn’t get through due to bad weather. COAS thanked the senators for their visit and their support in socio-economic uplift of FATA.
