LONDON: Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was discharged from hospital on Friday after undergoing a surgery for throat cancer in a London hospital.
Zayd Hussain Nawaz, grandson of Nawaz Sharif, confirmed the news in a tweet.
Kulsoom Nawaz, who is contesting by-election in NA-120 after the disqualification of her husband, stayed in the hospital overnight.
According to family sources, her chemotherapy treatment is scheduled to start from next week.
Kulsoom Nawaz underwent medical check-ups in London, after which doctors diagnosed her with throat cancer. Maryam Nawaz — her daughter — later confirmed on Twitter that her mother was diagnosed with lymphoma, the cancer of the lymph nodes.
