MOSCOW/ISLAMABAD-UNS – A video went viral on social networking sites in which soldiers from the armed forces of Pakistan and Russia performed Attan – Pashtun warrior dance – after their military drills. It appears as if both forces have developed close relations with each other.
The exercises look place in North Caucasus of Russia where as many as 200 troops and special forces from Pakistan as well as Russia took part. Islamabad and Moscow have vowed to co-operate with each other so that they have carry out joint operations against terrorism. These drills were held under the banner of Druzhba which also took place last year in Cherat, Pakistan.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will also overview the joint activity by visiting Russia on an official trip. Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakariya also confirmed that ties with China and Russia are strengthening as China and Russia are conducting separate Joint Defence Exercises with Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning that Pakistan and Russia have an agreement of defense cooperation that was signed in 2014. The two countries have a common mission of strengthening international security. Counter-terrorism efforts and cooperation with each other to promote security is in the best interest of both states, according to the agreement.
