ISLAMABAD -UNS : Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said recently that Pakistan was no longer dependent on the United States for military aid.
In a recent interview with Arab News, the prime minister said that the world was recognising Pakistan’s efforts when it came to fighting the war on terror.
“Any obstacle or ban on Pakistan would tantamount to an obstacle or ban on the war on terror,” he said.
Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan possessed the American defence system but it also had the European and Chinese defence system as well.
“Gone are the days when we used to be dependent on the United States,” he said. “We have purchased helicopters for the very first time from Russia. We have acquired weapons from Europe and China as well,” he added.
Khaqan Abbasi said that despite fiscal deficit, Pakistan would not go to the International Monetary Fund for loans. He dismissed all speculations regarding China being given more influence at the behest of CPEC.
“China will not be granted unnecessary influence due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project,” he added.
