ISLAMABAD: US Defense Secretary James Mattis has arrived in Islamabad on a day-long visit to Pakistan.
High officials of Defense and Foreign ministries received him at the airport.
James Mattis will hold meetings with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa today to discuss different aspects of bilateral relations and regional situation.
Earlier, talking to news persons enroute to Pakistan, James Mattis expressed the optimism that Pakistan and the United States can find ways to work together in the face of mutual enemies.
He said the United States remains committed to a pragmatic relationship with Pakistan and wants to expand cooperation on shared interests.James Mattis appreciated Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
