London flats reference against Sharif family postponed till February 15

ISLAMABAD -UNS : The NAB proceedings against Sharif family were postponed till February 15. Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam filed a petition with the court for immunity from appearing at the accountability court from two weeks after February 19.

“Kulsoom Nawaz is not well and she has to undergo important tests,” claimed the Sharif family lawyer Amjad Pervez Malik.

Amjad Pervez Malik said that a three-day mourning period had been announced to grieve for Asma Jahangir hence proceedings should be delayed. His petition in this regard was accepted by the court.

The hearing against the Sharif family in the London flats case was postponed till February 15 as the court will then decided whether or not to allow the accused immunity from appearing.

The court stated that witnesses would record their statements via video link on February 22 in London.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz arrived at the accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday to attend a NAB reference hearing pertaining to corruption allegations against Sharif family.

Captain (r) Safdar will also reach the court to attend the hearing. Four witnesses in the NAB reference will record statements against the former prime minister today.

On the other hand, state minister Talal Chaudhry will attend a hearing of the contempt of court charges against him at the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Earlier, PML-N senator Nehal Hashmi was disqualified by the apex court after he tendered an unconditional apology for his incendiary speech in which he indirectly issued threats to senior judges of the apex court.

Nehal Hashmi was slapped with a one-month imprisonment sentence, fined Rs 50,000 and disqualified for five years. PML-N leaders such as Maryam Nawaz spoke out against the decision openly.
