ISLAMABAD -UNS – Pakistan has decided to move World Bank against India’s controversial and unlawful Kishanganga Dam project.
As per details garnered, a four member delegation headed by Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali is due to visit Washington next week to apprise the top World Bank officials about Pakistan’s serious concerns.
Aizaz Chaudhry—Pakistan’s ambassador to US—stated that Pakistan delegation will hold talks from Monday till Wednesday. The Kishanganga Dam prject is violation of Indus Water Treaty (an agreement brokered by World Bank in 1960).
It is worth here to mention that WB is the gaurantor of the agreement. India started the work on the 330 MW Kishanganga in 2009, but Pakistan took the issue to the International Court of Justice and also raised the issue with the World Bank.
