ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday accepted applications of former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Tarlpur for interim-bail in money laundering case.
Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur had filed pre-arrest bail petitions in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday.
The case is being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Zardari has been accused of involvement in the case. The former president stated in his plea the NAB had already summoned him thrice and was fearing arrest over an unknown number of inquiries being initiated against him.
The petition has made NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal and Deputy Director Muhammad Kamran as respondents.Separately, the IHC will hear Usman Dar’s plea for Zardari’s disqualification on April 4. IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case.The plea seeks permanent disqualification of Zardari under Article 62(1) (f) of the Constitution.
The Islamabad High Court accepted pre-arrest bail applications of the PPP leaders till April 10 and directed them to submit surety bonds of Rs1 million each.
